The holiday season starts early in the Smoky Mountains as Gatlinburg transforms into a winter wonderland with dozens of unique LED lighting displays! There is no better way to see these custom designed and fabricated displays throughout town than from the comfort of a Gatlinburg Trolley! Here is everything you need to know about riding the Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights:
1. What to Expect
The Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights is a 45 minute ride through the Winter Magic lighting displays in Gatlinburg, including those along the downtown Parkway, adjacent River Road, and the triangle juncture of the two. While you can drive your own vehicle to view the holiday lights, the trolley service gives everyone the opportunity to relax and focus on the displays. There is also no need to bundle up as the trolleys are enclosed and heated! Many of the timeless displays that folks have enjoyed over the years have been converted to crisp LED lights, including snowmen, dancing fountains, a shiny rocking horse and more! You will also find displays featuring animals indigenous to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, such as deer, foxes, squirrels, and rabbits. Hop on board for a journey that is sure to put you into the holiday spirit and be a highlight of your vacation in the Smokies!
2. Dates, Times and Location
The Trolley Route departs from the Mass Transit Center at traffic light #5 3 times per night from November through December, with the exceptions of the first Friday in December, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Note that the Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights will also run on Saturday nights throughout January. The departure times on each night of operation are at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
